Needles аnd Haystacks: Making Civic Messages Stand Out

Presenter: Sergiu Scripcă

Abstract: The spectacular rise of new media in recent years has lead to the appearance of a continuous flow of information: whether truly relevant, completely trivial or even unwanted, the sheer amount of such information can overload your public, especially if you represent civic causes that may be neither naturally attractive, nor sufficiently funded to easily reach your targets.

This presentation will look at examples of the most powerful methods used in new media, both by nonprofits and by businesses, in an attempt to glean the best of their experiences and identify what makes messages stand out amidst the clutter, and even how that clutter can be used as an advantage.
