Using New Media for Promoting Children’s Rights

Abstract: In my paper I am presenting the findings of an action research carried out by a team of social workers and volunteers in Covasna county, Romania. My theme is how new media can be used to tackle child care issues.

We started obviously, with meetings, followed by initiating a purpose-oriented discussion list…. Then, in a more innovative pace, we developed a blog for the beneficiaries of the child care system, and started a ‘samizdat’ (officially anonymous) blog targeting the social workers working in the child care system.
Results and their pervert effects were significantly different from what we expected…
