Eastern European Students Coping with Debate

Presenter: Roman Petr

Abstract: Throughout my adjudicator career, I have witnessed a number of international debates at various competitions, cups and institutes. One thing I noticed in particular was the difference in entry skills and abilities of people that had only recently started debating and in the approach of the students generally. It turns out that they can be sorted into two groups by the geographical setting of their home countries. Eastern european and western european, as pertains to Europe. I am going to present my observations and comment on possible reasons for those.
