What is the location of the 2010 IDEA Youth Forum like?

The Netherlands is a country in North-western Europe, and it makes up for the major part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The public affairs are run by the government but with her 29 years of reign, the queen Beatrix consults the Prime Minister in weekly sessions. The capital city is Amsterdam and the seat of government is The Hague. Commonly the Netherlands is being addressed as Holland, which is factually incorrect, as North and South Holland are just provinces of the Netherlands. It is as if you would call the United States of America Texas; well maybe not that bad. The annoying difference between the noun (the Netherlands) and the adjective (Dutch people or Dutch language) when referring to this country and its people is strictly a peculiarity of English language, so don’t blame the Dutch for this.

The activities in the upcoming year will be concentrated in Vlissingen and Middelburg in the Province of Zeeland. If you put the name of the province into the Google translator you would get water country and that’s what the nature of this area is like. Approximately a third of the province consists of water and two thirds of land. The Dutch are famously known for their expertise in water management, as almost one third of the country lies below the water see level. This land is preserved by elaborate system of dikes and polders, which can be well demonstrated in Zeeland (eg. Delta in Oosterschelde Barrier).
